The European Union will send a group of experts to Armenia in the coming weeks to consider the possibility of deploying a new civilian mission here, the spokesperson of the European Union Foreign Minister Josep Borell told "Azatutyun" without specifying specific dates.
"The special representative of the European Union, Toivo Klaar, is in constant contact with the parties. At the moment, the Union and member states are holding consultations with local partners to discuss how they can contribute to sustainable peace through engagement on the ground. For this purpose, the European Union will send a group of experts to Armenia in the coming weeks to consider the possibility of deploying a new mission in order to contribute to confidence building," said Peter Stano in his written response.
The European Union civilian observer mission ends in six days. The press spokesperson for foreign policy did not, in fact, answer the question of "Freedom" why the European Union decided not to extend this current mission, especially since official Yerevan welcomed such an opportunity.
