If the Azerbaijanis do not open the road by tomorrow, we will come here, including children: The people of Artsakh to the Russian peacekeepers

A group of citizens of the Republic of Artsakh, men, and women, walked a short distance from the Artsakh side to the checkpoint of the Russian peacekeeping troops to negotiate with them on the issue of opening the only road connecting Armenia.

Addressing one of the officers of the peacekeeping force, the resident of Artsakh emphasized that in 2020 According to the tripartite statement of November 9, the Russian Federation has a clear obligation to ensure safe traffic through the Lachin Corridor.

The peacekeeper responded that he knows, and is familiar with the statement. “Come on, be specific,” he said.

The citizen of Artsakh commented that the so-called Ecoactivists of Azerbaijan, who blocked the road, talk about ecological problems, but did not present any documents. Unlike them, the people of Artsakh who approached the checkpoint of the peacekeepers had taken with them documents about the ecological situation.

Addressing the Russian peacekeeper, Artsakh resident Tigran Petrosyan said:

“We ask the Russian leadership, I don’t know whether, by force or how you should ensure a safe road, we ask you as citizens of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic to provide us a safe road.”

The Russian peacekeeper said that at the moment there are negotiations on the spot and there is no point in going there. “I am the commander here, I cannot give any other information, there is no point in going there, you will only aggravate the situation,” said the officer, again noting that negotiations are underway.

Petrosyan described the situation, noting that the road has been closed for twelve days now, and after the war, the Armenian side handed over territories without a fight in a tripartite declaration so that Russia could provide a safe corridor.

“I don’t blame you, that’s not the issue, there is a document by which the parties have obligations, please open the road. This is a provocation at the state level, there is no ecological problem in our country,” he said.

After the peacekeeper’s comment that he cannot say anything else, except that negotiations, are going on, Petrosyan said that now they will return to the people of Artsakh who are waiting for them below, and if the Azerbaijanis do not open the road by tomorrow, they will come with the people, including children. here, hoping that the peacekeepers will allow them to pass and talk to the Azerbaijanis, to tell them that they are wrong. Petrosyan mentioned that there is an action tomorrow in Artsakh at three o’clock.
