Azerbaijan's non-constructive approaches hinder the establishment of long-term peace in the region - Eduard Aghajanyan

Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly, and head of the Armenia-Switzerland friendship group, Eduard Aghajanyan, on January 24, received Lucas Rosenkranz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Armenia.

Maria Karapetyan, a member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and the Armenia-Switzerland Friendship Group, was present at the meeting.

The parties discussed issues related to regional security. Presenting details about the crisis situation created by Azerbaijan around the Lachin Corridor, Eduard Aghajanyan noted that blocking the road is a gross violation of the international obligations assumed by the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020, by Azerbaijan.

In this context, the chairman of the commission emphasized that the non-constructive approaches of Azerbaijan greatly hinder the establishment of security and long-term peace in the region.

Eduard Aghajanyan emphasized the role of international partners in preventing the unfolding crisis situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. The President of the Commission highly appreciated the EU Council's decision to establish a European Union Civilian Mission in Armenia (EUMA) within the framework of the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP).
