We appreciate Korea's balanced position regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh problem - Alain Simonyan

On February 13, RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan received the delegation led by Kihun Son, Chairman of the Korea-Armenia Friendship Group of the NA of the Republic of Korea.

The importance of interparliamentary cooperation in Armenian-Korean bilateral relations was emphasized at the meeting.

Possible directions for further development and strengthening of bilateral relations between Armenia and Korea were discussed. The parties emphasized the need for mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, science, education, culture, and tourism.

In this context, the Speaker of the National Assembly emphasized the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Armenia, which will provide a great opportunity for progress in Armenian-Korean relations.

Alen Simonyan highly appreciated the support provided by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to Armenia, particularly to the National Assembly, expecting continuity.

The partners discussed issues related to the security of the region, as well as problems related to the expansionist ambitions of Azerbaijan and its consequences.

"We appreciate the balanced position of the Republic of Korea regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh problem and we hope that Korea will continue to support the efforts of international mediators to resolve the problem exclusively peacefully," said Alen Simonyan.

The Speaker of the National Assembly added that Armenia expects direct steps from its international partners to demand that Azerbaijan fully fulfill the obligations assumed by the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, to immediately and unconditionally eliminate the blocking of the Lachin Corridor, ensuring the safe and secure organization of transport communication.
