On February 21, Security Council chief of staff Armen Grigoryan received the delegation headed by Stefano Tomat, commander of civil operations of the EU External Action Service.
Welcoming the arrival and official launch of the new EU civilian monitoring mission in Armenia, the Security Council Secretary expressed confidence that it will continue to contribute to the establishment of stability and peace in our region.
Stefano Tomat thanked the Armenian side for their support of the EU civil mission and presented the works to be carried out in Armenia.
The parties also discussed other issues related to further cooperation.
It should be reminded that on January 23, the EU Council reached an agreement on creating a European Union civilian mission in Armenia.
The mission started its work on February 20. Among the exclusively civilian staff of the EU mission in Armenia are 100 people, including about 50 unarmed observers. The operational headquarters of the mission will be located in Yeghegnadzor, Vayots Dzor, RA.
