The urgent measures of the International Court of Justice are legally binding, but until now Azerbaijan has not stopped the blockade of the Lachin Corridor - Permanent Representative of RA

On March 2, at the initiative of the Armenian delegation to the OSCE, the issue of "The decision made by the International Court of Justice regarding the Lachine Corridor" was brought to the agenda of the OSCE Permanent Council session, under which delegations of many countries made speeches, emphasizing the absolute necessity of implementing the court's decision.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the session, the permanent representative of Armenia Armen Papikyan thoroughly referred to the decision made by the International Court of Justice, by which the court stated that there is an immediate danger of irreparable damage to the rights of Armenians within the framework of the international convention on the "Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination" and to force Azerbaijan to has taken all necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted movement of persons, vehicles, and goods in both directions through the Lachine Corridor.

It should be reminded that according to the decision of the International Court of Justice of February 22, Azerbaijan is obliged to take the measures agreed upon by it to ensure the uninterrupted movement of people and goods in both directions through the Lachin Corridor.

Armen Papikyan also noted that the court completely rejected the petition regarding taking urgent measures by Azerbaijan, thus rejecting Azerbaijan's false statement regarding the mines directed against Armenia.

The ambassador stressed that the urgent measures of the International Court of Justice are legally binding, but until now Azerbaijan has not stopped the blockade of the Lachin Corridor. Armen Papikyan noted that Azerbaijan blocked the Lachin Corridor, the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia and the world, for about 80 days. Azerbaijan has also disrupted the electricity supply and regularly interrupts the gas supply. As a result, the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh are standing on the verge of a humanitarian disaster. At the same time, Azerbaijan announces at the highest level that it can lift the blockade for all those who want to leave Nagorno-Karabakh. This is nothing more than a slowly implemented policy of ethnic cleansing and a blatant disregard for the implementation of the judgment of the International Court of Justice.

Ambassador Papikyan specifically noted that despite Azerbaijan's continuous claims, the Court clearly used the term Nagorno-Karabakh in its decision. In its decision, the court confirmed the principle of the universality of human rights, which must be strictly protected everywhere, regardless of the political status of the people's residence.

Highly appreciating the clear statements of a number of organizations and countries regarding the decision of the international court, he also emphasized the need for appropriate involvement of the OSCE in addressing the humanitarian crisis in its area of responsibility.
