Ararat Mirzoyan met with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Ṣafadī

Within the framework of the ministerial session of the OECD Council, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Ayman al-Ṣafadī, Deputy Prime Minister of the Hashemites Kingdom of Jordan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs, in Cairo on March 8.

The Foreign Ministers discussed issues related to the Armenian-Jordanian bilateral agenda and exchanged ideas on the prospects for developing mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Ayman al-Ṣafadī touched upon issues related to the expansion of political dialogue, emphasizing high-level mutual visits and active interaction on international platforms.

Regional and international security issues were also on the agenda of the meeting.

RA Foreign Minister presented to his Jordanian counterpart the efforts of the Armenian side in the direction of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, establishing peace and stability in the region. Both sides emphasized settling existing conflicts exclusively through negotiations and dialogue.

In the context of the security situation in the South Caucasus and the existing challenges, Minister Mirzoyan considered the speculations of the religious factor by Azerbaijan unacceptable, as well as the groundless attempts to disrupt the traditionally warm relations between Armenia and the Armenian people and the Arab world.

Referring to the blocking of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the resolution of the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the completion of the corridor by the mandate to reopen in accordance with the provisions of the November 9, 2020 announcement.
