Answering MP Agnessa Khamoyan's question about Russia's response to the EU mission in RA at the regular session of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration,RA Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan said that indeed, the deployment of the mission has raised some questions.
"In that direction, we continue to explain what is the reason, what is the purpose of the mission. For example, from Iran, which is very sensitive to the issue of creating such missions in the region, there was a rather positive response. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran stated that they do not see any problem regarding the mission. It shows that the perception is different in the case of explanatory works. Yes, we should continue working with our partners in that regard and present more information."
Hovhannisyan noted that since the deployment of the mission, the number of provocations on the border has somewhat decreased.
"We think that it also played a certain role in preventing a larger-scale provocation. Of course, we cannot provide facts about it. That's our assessment."
Returning to the Russian response to the EU mission in Armenia, the deputy foreign minister noted:
"We are all aware of that sensitive attitude. The issue is being discussed with Russian partners. You know that the Foreign Minister's visit to Moscow is scheduled soon, and that is one of the issues that will be discussed for sure."
