Freestyle wrestler, Sergey Sargsyan(92 kg) won a bronze medal at the U23 European Championship in Bucharest, winning a brilliant 8-5 victory over Abdulali Shabanov, the representative of Azerbaijan, in the decisive wrestling match. Sargsyan scored the winning points in the last seconds of a tense wrestling match, and after the defeat, the Azerbaijani wrestler could not hold his tears back for a long time.
Sargsyan started the fight in the qualifying round, where he lost to Georgian Andro Margishvili. The latter reached the finals, as a result of which the Armenian wrestler got the right to hold a consolation match. In the consolation match, he already had a 7-0 advantage over Sweden's representative Farhad Anosheh.
Thus, the freestyle wrestling team of Armenia finished its performances at the U23 European Championship with 3 silver and 3 bronze medals. Earlier, Mezhlum Mezhlumyan (61 kg), Hayk Papikyan (70 kg), and Knyaz Iboyan (86 kg) won silver medals in the U23 EA, while Edik Harutyunyan (57 kg) and Martin Simonyan (125 kg) became bronze medalists.
