India can become part of Iran's project: Yerevan and Delhi preparing an agreement |armeniasputnik.am|

Armenia and India are negotiating the signing of a bilateral agreement on international road transport. Yerevan also considers the connection of New Delhi to the "Persian Gulf-Black Sea" international transport corridor as possible.

This was reported to Sputnik Armenia by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.

Earlier it became known that Armenia has proposed to India to provide a trade corridor that would pass through Iran, Armenia, Georgia, and the Black Sea in order to deliver goods to Russia and Europe faster.

"Currently, the negotiations with India have intensified in the direction of signing a bilateral agreement on cooperation with RA in the field of transport and international automobile transportation," the answer of the ministry states.

The department also reminded that although India is not a member country of the agreement on the establishment of the "Persian Gulf-Black Sea" FTA, New Delhi can join it if it wishes.

What will it give to Yerevan?

Armenia is ready to ratify the agreement on the launch of the "Persian Gulf-Black Sea" international transport corridor in accordance with the legislation of the republic. In Yerevan, they are confident that the implementation of the project will promote the development of multimodal transportation and increase Armenia's transit function in international cargo transportation on the Europe-Asia route.

"The signing of the "Persian Gulf-Black Sea" FTA agreement can give a new quality to the cooperation between Armenia and Iran," they said in the response to the survey.

The Armenian ministry also reminded that the last time the delegations of the countries participating in the project, namely Armenia, Iran, Georgia, and Bulgaria, gathered at the 6th session of the expert group for the coordination of the project on April 6-7, 2022 in Sofia. As a result of the meeting, the protocol of the sixth meeting was signed, in which it is stated that the final version of the "Persian Gulf-Black Sea" MOU is ready.

The Iranian side should agree on the final version of the agreement through diplomatic channels with the countries participating in the International Monetary Fund that were not present at the meeting and, after receiving the answer, inform the other states about the results.
