The Security Council of Armenia issued a statement, according to which on November 14 at 13:00 on one of the eastern sections of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces with the support of armored vehicles penetrated into the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. The statement notes that the Azerbaijani military equipment and troops that invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia withdrew from the territory of the Republic of Armenia as a result of negotiations, the units of the Armenian Armed Forces left the above-mentioned four combat positions.
It should be noted that yesterday the Ministry of Defense refuted this information, saying that “the information spread on social media that armored vehicles of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces penetrated into the territory of Armenia on this section of the border is fake.”
“As a result of the actions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, four combat positions of the Armenian Armed Forces were blockaded. The Azerbaijani military equipment and troops that invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia withdrew from the territory of the Republic of Armenia as a result of negotiations, the units of the Armenian Armed Forces left the above-mentioned four combat positions. Nevertheless, Azerbaijani servicemen, who invaded the sovereign territory of Armenia in May of this year, continue to remain in this area.
Rumors that the command of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia or the political authorities gave an order not to resist are fake. The Security Council of the Republic of Armenia instructed the relevant authorities to conduct a proper investigation of the incident.
The Security Council draws the attention of Russia, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the international community to the aggressive actions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and stresses that these actions are directed against the sovereignty, territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia and regional security and stability, as well as contradict the provisions of the trilateral statement from November 9, 2020.
The Security Council of the Republic of Armenia expresses the determination of the authorities and the People to protect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of the Homeland.
