According to MPs of the "Civil Contract" faction, there are no discussions in the faction regarding the presidential candidate yet, since President Armen Sarkissian has the opportunity to withdraw his resignation application within 7 days.

MP Gevorg Papoyan noted that at the moment Armenia has a president, so they consider it premature to discuss the issue of a presidential candidate in such a situation. The law makes it possible to withdraw the resignation application within 7 days. "We will talk about it when the position will be vacant, and the position is not vacant at the moment," Papoyan said.

According to him, the candidate will be the person chosen by the "Civil Contract" faction. He cannot say instead of the opposition whether they will nominate a candidate or not. But since the voter, in fact, is the "Civil Contract" faction, only this faction can elect the president, therefore, the president of the republic will be the candidate from our faction," he said.
