If Nikol Pashinyan knows that we had a "fifth column", why didn't he take measures against it? Serzh Sargsyan said this in a conversation with journalists today, commenting on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that the reason for the defeat in the 44-day war was the "fifth column" operating in the army.

"During my presidency, we did not have a "fifth column". If that person knows that we had a "fifth column", why didn't he take measures against that "fifth column"? But, in my opinion, maybe somewhere he is right and he is the head of that "fifth column" if he knows so much," said the third RA president.

Referring to the statement of RA Defense Minister Suren Papikyan that the "fifth column" was directed from outside, Serzh Sargsyan said:

"Perhaps Suren Papikyan has reliable information, otherwise he cannot make such frivolous statements. I know other people controlled from the outside who will never call themselves a "fifth column" in their lives."
