The situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border

As of 22:00, there was no change in the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

The RA Investigative Committee initiated criminal proceedings regarding the murder of three servicemen as a result of shelling by the Azerbaijani armed forces. An investigation is underway.

On October 2, the meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan will take place in Geneva, RA Foreign Ministry Press Secretary Vahan Hunanyan informed.

"Despite Azerbaijan's provocations, the Armenian side will participate in the meeting. Thus, the statements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan that Armenia is trying to fail the negotiations are groundless.

"Armenia, as before, is constructive, and aims to achieve long-term peace in the South Caucasus and expects the same from Azerbaijan," he said.

PM Nikol Pashinyan's interview to the Public Television of Armenia

In general, it should be noted that there is tension on the border, and that tension is being maintained steadily at the moment. In that regard, taking into account the aggressive and military rhetoric of Azerbaijan, of course, new provocations are not excluded, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this in an interview with the Public TV Company, talking about the border situation.

My belief remains the same only peace can provide guaranteed security. In other words, until we have comprehensive peace, we cannot talk about comprehensive security. Therefore, all our efforts, even in the most acute situations, are aimed at peace. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this in an interview with Public Television of Armenia.

"If we believe that the inviolability of our borders should be protected including by the efforts of our army and diplomatic means, the long-term goal of that operation is also peace. We are trying to make our positions clear to the international community, and the international community will receive as objective information as possible about the situation," added the Prime Minister.

He also emphasized that the government is actively working in all necessary directions to ensure the security of Armenia.

Speaking about international guarantees and instruments, including international observation missions, Pashinyan elaborated.

"The mission announced by France is a mission sent by the Ministry of Defense to assess the security situation on the spot for further analysis and assessment. When we talk about the international observation mission, we mean either a long-term or a permanent observation mission mechanism, one of the most important goals of which is the transfer of impartial information about the situation to the relevant international structures, after which appropriate actions will follow."

Talking about the negotiation process, Pashinyan said:

"If there is such a context that the government is not able to take responsibility and it should be helped to take responsibility, I can say that the government, and I personally are aware of the responsibility for the fate of the country, and we are ready to take that responsibility, and we received that responsibility from our people. There is an opinion that a narrow circle of people is aware of the negotiation process. It is a misunderstanding because a wide range of people is aware of the negotiation process, even at the level of sentences, not only our teammates - the Civil Contract faction, the Security Council, the Artsakh authorities are fully aware," Pashinyan added.

Pashinyan emphasized that the President of Nagorno-Karabakh is not unaware of any sentence he uttered and heard in any negotiation. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the President of the Republic of Armenia, in turn, informs at least the Security Council and former high-ranking officials.

Pashinyan also mentioned that Armenia expects a clear political assessment of the situation from CSTO.

"I want to say that at the working level, I have spoken many times within the CSTO, that, for example, when we previously had discussions with the CSTO partners regarding the security of Armenia, because the CSTO is the number one institutional instrument for the security of the Republic of Armenia, we received very clear assurances that the RA border is a red line for CSTO. When the Sotk-Khoznavar events took place last year, we turned to the CSTO at that time, and we received a very strange response that, you know, the border is not demarcated and delimited," Pashinyan concluded.

Lavrov stated that the CIS countries are not safe from US interference in their internal affairs, which is "clearly visible in the South Caucasus"

No CIS country is safe from Washington's attempts to interfere in its internal affairs. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made such a statement during the 18th meeting on the intelligence activities of the heads of security bodies and intelligence services of the CIS member states.

"The irresponsible line of the West in the Eurasian territory is not limited to Ukraine. We remember how two years ago there was an attempt to implement the "color revolution scenario" in Belarus," Lavrov said.

He noted that no CIS country is safe from such intervention. According to Lavrov, this is clearly seen in the actions of the USA, NATO, and the EU in Central Asia and the South Caucasus. The Russian official did not clarify what actions those are.

Moscow's actions endanger the prospects of establishing peace - UN Secretary-General

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that Moscow's actions threaten the prospects of peace in the region.

If Russia goes ahead with its plans to annex four regions of Ukraine, it would mean a dangerous escalation that would threaten the prospects for peace in the region, the UN secretary-general said yesterday.

"Any decision to annex Ukraine's Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye regions will have no legal force and deserves condemnation," Antonio Guterres told reporters.

The permanent representation of Russia at the United Nations accused Guterres of violating the charter of the organization.

"We are sorry for the statement of the UN Secretary-General. Regarding the situation created around Ukraine, the Secretary General of the United Nations consistently shows the same selective approach as the countries of the collective West, literally putting himself in the same row with them," the Russian mission said in a statement.
