Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sent a congratulatory message to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the victory of the "United Russia" Party in the State Duma elections. "Please accept my sincere congratulations on the convincing victory of the "United Russia" Party in the elections of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The results of the elections show the support of Russian citizens for the political course consistently pursued by the country's political leadership. According to the maps of the Soviet Union, two sections of the Goris-Kapan road of Armenia belong to Azerbaijan, but an agreement was reached on the safe movement of vehicles before the delimitation process. The Iranian side, including the embassy, is making efforts to resolve this issue as soon as possible, and we expect from the Armenian government that the alternative road will be built quickly and Iranian drivers will carry out cargo transportation in safe and secure conditions. [Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri on the obstacles of Iranian cargo transportation to Armenia]
It is very important for us to finally get a railway connection with Russia, which will open new opportunities for the development of our economy and our integration into the Eurasian Economic Union. This will make our membership in the Eurasian Economic Union even more effective. [Armenian Prime Minister to Russian Deputy Prime Minister]
The trilateral working group doesn’t discuss the issue of opening a corridor through the territory of Armenia to Nakhichevan. The issue of unblocking economic and transport communications in the South Caucasus is being discussed. [Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk]
The Prime Minister spoke about his ideas on starting a conversation with Turkey, saying that he believes that high-level contacts should be preceded by working discussions and he also presents this idea to international partners. At the moment, there have been no contacts between Armenian and Turkish officials, although the Armenian government is ready for that. With such effective work Armenia will be ready for meetings at high and the highest level. [Spokesperson of the Prime Minister Mane Gevorgyan]
Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan are committed to unblocking economic and transport communications in the region. Of course, we are discussing how to do it, but it is obvious that the unblocking and restoration of the transport communications will create new opportunities for expanding and increasing the trade turnover, including between Russia and Armenia. [Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexey Overchuk]
As a result of the work carried out by the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Security Service of Russia, at 23:45, the Azerbaijani side returned two residents of the community of Kasakh that deviated from the highway, driving along the Goris-Vorotan road, and ended up in the territory controlled by Azerbaijan. The Prime Minister of Armenia made a proposal for a meeting through the Prime Minister of Georgia. On the one hand Pashinyan declares that the Armenian side doesn’t discuss the issue of the Nakhichevan corridor and on the other hand expresses a desire to meet with me. If there is a desire to meet with Erdogan, concrete steps must be taken. If they are sincere in their desire to start a dialogue through the Georgian Prime Minister and are ready to take steps to start a new process, then we will also meet them halfway. [Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan]
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh touched upon the road issue connecting Iran and Armenia. He stressed the priority of the territorial integrity of neighboring countries and said that Iran is trying to use the support for its neighbors in a balanced way. In connection with the detention of Iranian drivers by the Azerbaijanis, Khatibzadeh noted that Iran demanded the immediate release of the drivers, as well as a meeting with officials to ensure a basic solution to the problem.
