Armenian and Azerbaijani FMs hold phone conversation

On April 11, the Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan held a phone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia reports.

The Ministers exchanged views on the creation of the commission on delimitation and border security, preparation of peace negotiations and humanitarian issues.

Toivo Klaar, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, commented on the phone conversation of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers: "Important development following last week’s Brussels meeting. The EU is supportive of direct contacts & engagement," Klaar wrote on Twitter.

 

French Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group met with Armenian FM and Security Council Secretary

On April 11, Ararat Mirzoyan received the Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group from France Brice Roquefeuil, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia reports.

The role of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of its mandate was emphasized. During the meeting the sides discussed the situation that has developed as a result of the invasion of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces into the zone of responsibility of Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh. Mirzoyan presented Armenia's position on the start of negotiations on a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, emphasizing in this context the mediation role of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs and the Co-chairing countries. 

The Security Council Secretary, Armen Grigoryan, received French Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Brice Roquefeuil.

Welcoming the Co-Chair's visit to Yerevan, the Secretary of the Security Council stressed the need for a comprehensive and durable settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. In this context, Co-Chair Roquefeuil stressed France's interest in maintaining the OSCE Minsk Group's dimension and resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on regional issues and security issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
