"From the very first day of the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan, the RA Foreign Ministry and relevant state departments are constantly in contact with various international structures to address the problems caused by the humanitarian crisis created in Nagorno-Karabakh," Press Secretary of RA MFA Vahagn Hunanyan said.

In the following weeks, you will feel a drastic activation - Zareh Sinanyan referred to the diaspora's response to the closure of the Lachin Corridor

The Chief Commissioner of Diaspora Affairs, Zareh Sinanyan, today referred to the reaction of the diaspora regarding the closure of the Lachin Corridor.

"They resort to different measures. I know that the public was expecting a more intense reaction, as there was during the war, but for some reason, this reaction is softer."

Zareh Sinanyan said that it is related to many factors. There is apathy and self-organization problems. According to him, however, in the following weeks, there will be a sharp activity in the diaspora.

"Yesterday, there was a big action near the mansion of the mayor of Los Angeles, as a result of which the mayor made a clear statement and promised to join the wider scope of work so that the United States is more involved in the opening of the Berdzor road. A gathering was held in Paris last Sunday, there will be a bigger gathering on the 10th of the month and it will be a continuation," said Sinanyan, noting that they are carrying out work at different levels.

At the moment, there are no negotiations regarding the opening of the road - Ruben Vardanyan

There are almost no talks on the opening of the Lachine Corridor,  Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan mentioned this.

"Azerbaijan made demands, and we responded and announced that we are ready to receive the world's best experts in the field of environmental protection, we do not see a problem in this, but there is no response. We are now in a situation where negotiations are not being conducted," he said.

Vardanyan replied to the question whether Azerbaijan has any other demands besides monitoring in the mines.

"They want to guard the road, which is unacceptable for us. The document of November 9 clearly states that we must have a free road on which we can travel freely without asking anyone for permission."

He noted that the December 25 rally in Artsakh showed everyone that the majority of people in Artsakh understand the three paths they should choose.

We expect more substantive steps from the international community, including the permanent member of the UN Security Council, Russia - Pashinyan

The operation, which caused a humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, caused a wide international response to the calls to unblock the corridor.  RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this at the beginning of the RA government session.

Despite this, according to Pashinyan, Azerbaijan is not taking action to settle the issue. He reaffirmed the fact of the statements of the previous sessions that by closing the Lachin Corridor, Azerbaijan grossly violates the direct obligations assumed by the statement of November 9, 2020, which raises serious questions about the contractual capacity of official Baku.

USA calls for the full restoration of free movement through the Lachin Corridor

Azerbaijan's closure of the Lachin Corridor, the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the outside world, continues to concern the United States, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said, commenting on the actions of Azerbaijan at the request of ARMENPRESS, which have led to severe humanitarian consequences in Artsakh.

“We remain concerned about impeded access to the Lachin Corridor and the humanitarian implications of this situation. This sets back the peace process and undermines international confidence. We call for the full restoration of free movement through the corridor. The way forward for all issues is through negotiations”, Ned Price said.
