On February 15, the Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in Ankara, followed by the press statement of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Turkey.

"I am glad that our Armenian rescuers, in cooperation with their colleagues, managed to do what is most important in this situation: to save human lives.

I consider it symbolic that on Saturday the Armenian-Turkish border, which has been closed for thirty years, was opened for Armenian trucks loaded with humanitarian aid heading to Adiyaman. The same happened last night, and hours later another batch of humanitarian aid will reach Adiyaman," Ararat Mirozyan said.

Earlier, the Armenian Foreign Minister met with the Armenian search-and-rescue team in Adiyaman, Turkey. FM Mirzoyan spoke with the rescuers and thanked them for their difficult and responsible work.

Captain Vahe Gevorgyan, the chief of the Armenian search-and-rescue team deployed in Adiyaman, told that his team’s work has been praised by many. “Everyone is approaching us and thanking us. Some even get surprised that we’ve come from Armenia, and in that case, they say thank you twice. I can say that our work was flawless because we were able to effectively work together with the rescuers from other countries,” Captain Gevorgyan said.

France welcomed the visit of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to Turkey in the context of Armenia's contribution to providing assistance to the earthquake-affected population of Turkey, the French Foreign Ministry issued said in a message.

"As the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, had the opportunity to announce during her visit to Turkey in September, France supports the efforts undertaken by Armenia and Turkey to normalize relations," the message said.

«Շնորհակալություն, Հայաստան» - Kilic thanked Armenia for the help

Special Representative of Turkey for normalization of relations with Armenia Serdar Kilic said Armenia’s assistance to Turkey after the earthquake is an important development in this phase.

He expressed his gratitude to Armenia in Armenian for the help provided to the victims of the earthquake on Twitter.

"The doors of the trucks containing the second-party aid from Armenia were opened by our aid reception teams in Adıyaman, under the supervision of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who came to the region to visit the earthquake victims. Շնորհակալություն, Հայաստան," he wrote.

“Our geography, the area where we are situated is one of the important factors determining our fate. Sometimes that fate is unfortunately formed with such disasters. Support from regional countries is an important factor in mitigating pain and sorrow. Like other countries in the region, the Armenian people also made effort to stand by the Turkish people at this painful moment, it sent search-and-rescue teams, as well as cargo trucks with humanitarian aid, the most recent two trucks being sent yesterday evening. And the Foreign Minister of Armenia came to Ankara and met with our Foreign Minister to express condolences on behalf of the Armenian people. Of course, these are important developments in this stage. Of course, we will not forget this support provided by Armenia. This is a very important event. At the same time, pains bring people together. We are going through important processes,” Kilic said.
