The pre-election rally of the "Armenia" alliance headed by Armenia's second president Robert Kocharyan is taking place at the Republic Square now.
The representative of the "Armenia" alliance, Director of "Izmirlyan" Medical Centre, Professor Armen Charchyan has been detained by Police, the official representative of the alliance Aram Vardevanyan reported. Lawyer Eric Alexanyan will take the protection of the Professor's rights.
Ambassadors accredited to Armenia have issued a joint statement ahead of snap parliamentary elections. They encourage all participants to ensure that the high overall standard set in the previous elections of 2018 is met or exceeded. They call on all parties to contribute to a respectful and peaceful environment conducive to the free expression of voters’ rights throughout this important step for the future of the country.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced today that Russia wishes Armenia successful parliamentary elections. The reporters' question as to which of the political forces does Moscow support in the elections, Peskov described as "strange".
Armenia's second president, the leader of the "Armenia" alliance Robert Kocharyan issued a message addressing Armenians on the last day of the election campaign noting that June 20 is a fateful day and that people are about to make a choice between decent peace and humiliating disgrace, between a prosperous life and desperate poverty.
During a press conference today the leader of the "Liberal" ("Azatakan") party Samvel Babayan summed up the electoral campaign, saying that it was interesting, but there was a lot of polarization, which he thinks is wrong. Babayan mentioned that it was difficult to carry out a campaign in the whole republic within 12 days. He said during the campaign they tried to present the truth to the public and whatever decision people make, he will be thankful.
The leader and the PM candidate of the "Bright Armenia" party Edmon Marukyan commented on the problems Armenia's facing and the disagreements between former and new authorities, noting that people can't stand it anymore. The PM candidate presented his prediction and stressed that there should be a government of national accord, and political forces should unite for one idea, specialists should go to the government, and the politicians must remain in parliament. |tert.am|
In an interview with Public Television of Armenia, the leader of the "Prosperous Armenia" party Gagik Tsarukyan announced that there is a need to restore relations with Russia and sign a new military-political alliance. Tsarukyan also referred to the Artsakh issue, saying that in order to correctly determine the fate of Artsakh, Armenia must work for it to have international recognition. "Only in case of international recognition, we can definitely demand our lands, which belonged to Artsakh, and which today the Azerbaijanis have taken," Tsarukyan added.
On June 15 an employee of the Goris Cultural Center reported to Goris Police Department that the director of the center has banned her from participating in Nikol Pashinyan's election campaign, threatening her to fire. A criminal case has been initiated. On June 17, the director of the cultural center was arrested. The preliminary investigation continues.
The pre-election meeting headed by Nikol Pashinyan is taking place at the Republic Square now. The PM candidate of the "Civil Contract" had invited citizens to a meeting today at 20:00, stating that the most important thing during this meeting must be everybody's participation. Pashinyan will deliver a program speech and will talk about their plans.
