4 Armenians in Aleppo and 2 Armenians in Turkey became victims to an earthquake 

In Turkey, not far from the Syrian border, there was a 7.8-magnitude earthquake at night.  Destruction has taken place in many cities in Turkey and Syria.  There are many victims and wounded.

The devastating earthquake of the night in Turkey was followed today by aftershocks, one of which was of magnitude 7.7 and then of magnitude 5.9.

As of the afternoon, Hovhannes Aleksanyan, representative of the Office of the Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, informed Azatutyun, reported that as a result of the earthquake, 4 Armenians have died in Aleppo and 2 in Turkey. He mentioned, the number can change.

According to Aleksanyan, the victims in Malatya are husband and wife.

Earlier it was reported that two Armenians were killed in Aleppo, one of them a dual citizen (of Syria and Armenia). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also working to obtain information about the presence of Armenian citizens among the victims in Turkey.

 

Armenia is ready to support Syria and Turkey after the devastating earthquake

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed his condolences to the families of those who died in Turkey and Syria as a result of the strong earthquake.

 "I am saddened by the news of the devastating earthquake that took place in Turkey and Syria, which led to the loss of many human lives.

We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery.  Armenia is ready to help," Prime Minister Pashinyan wrote on his Twitter page.

RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan also expressed his condolences regarding the devastating earthquake that took place in Turkey and Syria today and killed more than a thousand people.

"My heartfelt condolences to Turkey and Syria over the tragic consequences and loss of innocent lives following the devastating earthquake. Sympathies to the bereaved families and wishes of a speedy recovery to all injured," he wrote on Twitter.

Later, the spokesperson of the RA Foreign Ministry Vahan Hunanyan informed that the Armenian side has already announced its readiness to provide support to Syria and Turkey affected by the February 6 earthquake, and now the provision of humanitarian and rescue aid to the affected countries is being discussed. 

 

Ararat Mirzoyan is on a working visit to Berlin, Germany

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in Germany on a working visit, had a meeting on February 6 with the chairman of the Germany-South Caucasus Friendship Group of the GDR Bundestag, Johann Wadephul.

Issues related to regional security were discussed at the meeting.

Minister Mirzoyan presented to the interlocutor the details of the humanitarian crisis created in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the blocking of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan, emphasizing the need for clear steps to be taken by the partner states in order to lift the blockade.
