The West did not impose anything on the Armenian side: The Secretary of the Security Council about the statements of the Russian side

The West did not impose anything on the Armenian side.  Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan said this in a conversation with journalists, referring to the criticism of the Russian side regarding the deployment of the EU civilian mission in Armenia.

"No one can force us to do anything.  In this context, the West did not impose anything on us.  The deployment of that mission was the decision of the Armenian side.  I can say that the arrival of that mission is also related to our experience.  What do I mean?  In May and November 2021, there was an attack on the sovereign territory of Armenia, a large-scale attack also took place in September last year.  And taking into account the experience that the existing security guarantees do not work, Armenia has invited the EU civilian mission in order to create certain security guarantees," said Grigoryan, noting that the deployment of the EU civilian mission will create additional security guarantees.

He stated that Armenia is in favor of having discussions between Stepanakert and Baku in an internationally visible framework, and Armenia continues to work with its international partners on the establishment of this mechanism.

Grigoryan mentioned that there is a reference to Nagorno Karabakh in the peace agreement, but it should be taken into account that the document is not yet final, as negotiations are underway.
